Appartement 8 & 9- Lagun Blou Resort - Curaçao

This is not so much a resort as a property with apartment rentals, a pool, a hot tub (not very hot, but it's OK b/c the island is oppressively hot), and some common areas. The views are spectacular as are the sunsets. For the price, you can't go wrong. BUT.....know what you are in for. Upon booking I was aware that there was only AC in the bedrooms of the rentals. What I did not know was how insanely hot the units were, and even with front and back doors open and a fan the air just did not circulate AT ALL. We had initially booked a bayside unit (#4) that had a nice view and basic amenities. However, the bed was not really a bed at all and was a 2-3 inch pad on a wooden plank. It was super uncomfortable, but at least there was AC in that room. My husband also got shocked several times trying to use the stove. We requested to move after the first night and Nasha very kindly worked with us and offered a unit that not only had a real bed/mattress but also 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was more than we needed and did not have the ocean or bay view, but since the apartments were so hot we spent very little time in them except when in the bedroom with AC. So we had plenty of opportunities to sit out in the various common areas where we could look at the ocean and sunsets. Even if we were to spend more time in the apartment it would have still been in the bedroom b/c there was not a lot of light in the living area (e.g., unable to read a book at night). The kitchen was adequate but minimal. For example, some folks we met during our stay asked to borrow a frying pan one night b/c their unit only had sauce pans. There is a gated parking lot so the property is very safe and clean with well manicured landscaping. It's also very quiet at night, which was nice after long days exploring the island and snorkeling. There is no restaurant, but the property just across the way has one (didn't try it). The water is fine to drink. Apartments are provided with drying racks for wet swimsuits, etc., which was a helpful touch. It's probably not ideal if you have kids and they would need to be closely watched near the ledges/cliffs. If you have the constitution to handle the Curacao heat, esp. in September/October, then this place is great. As much as we would like to stay here again, we will need to find someplace else that has full AC.

I really wanted to love this place but too many cons outweigh the pros. Pros,The staff are friendly and very helpful. Location is absolutely paradisiac and magical. The view from the premium apartment balcony was magical. The fact that the property was steps from Playa Lugun was amazing and their private access to clear waters and wonderful snorkeling was incredible. The bed was comfortable. Cons, the apartment (#19) is very OUTDATED, along with the furniture, where there were visible stains on the couch that I was deterred from sitting on them and unable to enjoy the living room, plus there’s NO A/C and it gets extremely hot (only upstairs in the bedroom and if you go over 15 kw / day you’ll be charged ). The bath mats had stains on them. The upstairs sliding door grates and is hard to open. The fan in the living room was extremely dirty and dusty, but when I asked for it to be cleaned it was instantly cleaned, along with the very smelly bathroom upstairs, (they immediately put chemicals in the toilets and sinks to remove the smell). The kitchen is old and I felt I had to wash anything before I used it. If you’re looking for a great location with magical views and won’t be spending much time in your room, this is the place. But if you’re looking to relax in a clean apartment without worrying about using too much electricity and A/C and with ocean views, there are other options at a better rate. I know it’s rated 3 stars, however, I’ve stayed at a 3-star property in Curacao before and it was very clean and newly renovated for a better price for the same time of year. I agree, the location here in Lagun Blou is what you’re primarily paying for along with a spacious apartment, but I’m sad to say, I won’t be coming back here on my next Curacao trip.

My wife, granddaughter, and I contacted Lagun Blou Resort to rent jetski's for a first time adventure for our granddaughter. We were contacted immediately by Joyce, and scheduled a meeting Orlando at Playa Santa Cruz. We were contacted by Joyce early that morning and met with Orlando who brought the jetski's to the beach. Orlando was professional, friendly, kind, informative, and awesome. Orlando set us up in the water and we launched. We had a wonderful experience. The jetski's worked perfectly, no issue there. Once we returned, Orlando spoke with us about the activities and property at Lagun Blou Resort, and invited us to visit. My family and I took him up on the invitation and we visit the resort. The property was clean, it had a serene vibe. There's a nice size pool on property, as well as a smaller jacuzzi pool overlooking the ocean. You can literally take a dip in the ocean, as well as scuba dive at the back of the property safely. The property offers jetski, fishing, and scuba access (I believe they have tank rental). I recommend Lagun Blou Resort. My wife and I are planning on staying at the resort for our next trip to Curacao. Thank you to ALL who made it possible for us to have such wonderful experiences in a short time.
